Culture is Couture: Celebrate fashion, culture and community in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from a special guest on Thursday to talk about the Culture is Couture event, a weekend-long experience that combines fashion, Black culture and community.
8News anchors Autumn Childress and Delaney Hall were joined by Erica Shambley, the founder of the event, to talk about what people can expect.
"[It's] not just a fashion show, much more than that," Shambley said. "We want to immerse people into our panel discussions, networking opportunities."
The experience starts on Friday, Oct. 3 with an opening reception at Vagabond, leading to the main event on Saturday, Oct. 4 with a style and culture expo at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, and then to close the weekend people can head to Fresh Anointed Cathedral on Sunday, Oct. 5 for a Sunday's Best Experience.
"I just thought it was necessary, a necessary time for us to do something like this in Richmond, to celebrate and just the potential that it would have on our tourism and economic development to, you know, celebrate the culture," Shambley said.
