Cumberland park wins 2025 Virginia Green Travel Award

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Bear Creek Lake State Park will receive the 2025 Virginia Green Travel Award this year to honor its sustainability-based operations.
Virginia State Parks made the announcement recently, stating that the Virginia Green Travel Alliance selected Bear Creek Lake State Park due to its "efforts to recycle and operate sustainably."
As a part of these efforts, the park partnered with Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park to make a campaign centered around collecting plastic bags, which were then recycled and used to make a bench at the park.
