Damaged power poles cause lane closures on Mechanicsville Turnpike in Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Damaged power poles have caused lane closures along Mechanicsville Turnpike in Henrico County Tuesday morning.

Just before 4 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, the Henrico County Police Division announced that damaged power poles had caused an extended lane closure on Mechanicsville Turnpike.

Police said Dominion Energy was working to repair the damage, but some lanes were expected to remain closed for most of Tuesday.

Initially, the turnpike's eastbound lanes were closed, but officials announced that one eastbound lane has since reopened. All lanes heading westbound were open, according to police.

Drivers were asked to be cautious in the area.
