‘Debris everywhere’: Eyewitness recounts Chesterfield police chase that ended in deadly barricade situation
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — What began as a domestic incident Thursday afternoon escalated into a chaotic police chase and barricade situation, leaving one man dead.
Natoshia Lynn Alloway said she was heading home when she saw the chase unfold.
"I saw smoke, I saw debris everywhere," she said. "And then I realized this big, jacked-up white truck was barreling towards us ... and just plowing through the officers, the vehicles."
Officers with the Chesterfield Police Department responded to a call about a domestic incident involving a weapon around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9. They located the involved vehicle on Hull Street and attempted to stop it, triggering the police chase.
"The truck continued to go through somebody's yard, through the fence and in the backyards," Alloway said. "I was scared that somebody was out in their yard, because he was literally going to mow down anybody or anything in front."
Alloway provided 8News with cell phone video of some of this chaos.

The chase ultimately ended in Sunne Court, where the driver entered a home and barricaded himself inside. Police said the officers attempted to talk to the man for some time before he exited the home and shot himself. He was later taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
"It doesn't matter what neighborhood it is -- I think everybody's having a hard time right now," Alloway said.

Chesterfield firefighters reported that a portion of the home caught fire, but it was extinguished before it could spread. The cause of the fire remains under investigation -- as does the rest of this complicated incident.
"I probably shook for a good 30–45 minutes afterwards," Alloway said. "Even this morning, going to work and seeing the debris, seeing the tire marks ... kind of got to me a little bit. It was a very, very, sad situation. I feel bad for everybody involved."
