Dominion Energy restores power to over 113,000 customers after winter storm

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Dominion Energy crews have restored power to over 90% of its 113,000 customers that were impacted in the winter storm this week. According to an update from Dominion Energy, crews have worked hard to restore power to 113,000 customers that were affected by the winter storm -- which is 90% of its coverage. The company stated, "We have continued prioritizing power restoration for critical infrastructure and community services, as well as areas with the largest number of outages." Dominion Energy said the expected timeframe that all customers will have power restored would be no later than 11 p.m. today, Jan. 7. Customers are encouraged to keep checking estimated restoration times, which are updated in real-time on the outage map. Work crews have been moved from other regions in Central Virginia to assist the areas that were hit the hardest. Dominion Energy would like to remind residents to remain at least 30 ft away from downed power lines, which could be still live and dangerous -- if aware of a downed power line or pole, call in a report at 1-866-DOM-HELP. The Dominion Energy app is one of the quickest ways to track estimated restoration times and report outages in the area.
