Drunkard Road to close in Amelia for pipe replacement project

AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- If weather permits, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close a section of Drunkard Road in Amelia County for pipe replacement.
On Thursday, May 29, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., VDOT will close the intersection of Patrick Henry Highway and Drunkard Road for a pipe replacement project.
According to VDOT, drivers are advised to use the following detours:
- Eastbound Traffic: Travel east on Patrick Henry Highway, then north on Jetersville Road, then continue to Drunkard Road.
- Southbound Traffic: Head south on Drunkard Road, then turn east on Jetersville Road, then continue to Patrick Henry Highway.
Homeowners will still be able to access their properties during the road work.
