Early morning house fire seriously damages Hanover home

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Hanover County home was heavily damaged by a large fire early Friday morning.

Just before 1:45 a.m. on Friday, June 20, crews with Hanover County Fire-EMS were called to the 13000 block of Overhill Lake Lane for a report of a structure fire.

While firefighters were heading to the scene, they noticed a glow in the sky. Once there, they found a one-story residence engulfed in flames.

Crews did not find anyone inside the home, and no injuries were reported. However, the residence -- which was under renovation, according to fire officials -- was severely damaged and could be a total loss.

As of the time of reporting, it is not known if anyone was displaced. Fire officials said an update would be provided when possible.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
