EMPORIA, Va. (WRIC) -- The Emporia Police Department is introducing new devices to help enforce parking using solar power.
On Friday, Dec. 12, Emporia Police announced in a Facebook post that it will be implementing solar-powered devices to enforce parking rules.
These devices will help reduce illegal parking, enhance safety and ensure fair enforcement in fire lanes, no-parking zones and time-limited areas.
The solar-powered devices will provide 24/7 monitoring without officers having to be present. If violators are caught by the devices, then citations will be sent out to violators through the mail.
