Emu-sing situation: Powhatan deputies return escaped bird

POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Powhatan Animal Control Deputies had an emu-sing situation earlier Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, April 1, Powhatan's Sheriff's Office posted on social media how deputies had to wrangle an escaped emu named Possum to its home.

Cpl. Bagget constructed a plan to use crime scene tape to create a "movable fence" to return Possum to his owner's trailer. Bagget's knowledge of large birds was crucial in moving the emu.

"Thank you to the neighbor who found Possum and the owner who responded quickly with a trailer," the post stated.
