Entrepreneurs gather in Richmond for “Doing Business with the City” workshop

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- On Thursday, local business owners joined representatives from Richmond's Office of Minority Business Development (OMBD) and the Department of Procedure for their "Doing Business with the City" workshop.

The workshop was held at the Richmond Public Library Thursday, Oct. 30, and aimed to help provide information to local vendors in order to better help them understand how to navigate the City’s contracting process.

According to The City, during the sessions attendees learned how to register as official suppliers, gained insight into the City’s procurement methods and explored opportunities to bid on upcoming contracts.

City staff from the OMBD and the Department of Procedure also offered guidance to those in attendance on how businesses can identify relevant opportunities and meet qualification requirements.

"The workshop drew participation from small and minority-owned businesses across the region, reflecting growing interest in public-sector contracting. Attendees described the event as a useful introduction to The City’s procurement system and a chance to make direct connections with staff who can clarify procedures and expectations," stated a spokesperson with The City.

Future workshops will cover topics ranging from contracting, supplier diversity, and local business development.
