Event to be held for recruitment opportunities in Richmond Police Department

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Police Department is inviting the community to attend an upcoming open house event to learn about career opportunities within the city's law enforcement.

A Recruitment Open House event will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Richmond Police Training Academy, located at 1202 W. Graham Road, for those interested in a career in the Richmond Police Department.

According to the Richmond Police Department, the open house will offer opportunities for people to learn about the department's mission, recruitment process and available career paths.

Attendees of the event will get to:

• Tour the Richmond Police Training Academy
• Meet officers, instructors and recruitment staff
• Learn about the application process, training and career opportunities within the Richmond Police Department

“We’re looking for individuals who want to be part of real change in Richmond,” said Lieutenant Shane Waite. “If you’ve ever thought about wearing the badge to make a difference, this is your opportunity to take the first step.”

The department said all are welcome to attend the event, with no reservations required.
