Festival celebrating local independent films coming to Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond Film Network's (RFN) Indie Fest is coming to Richmond on Saturday, promising to showcase and celebrate "bold independent cinema" made in the city.

From noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, movie lovers can come out to the Park RVA -- located at 1407 Cummings Drive -- to enjoy this celebration of homegrown film.

"Our lineup is crafted for the true cinephilefilms that go beyond mainstream offerings and engage in fresh storytelling, daring themes and visual eye candy," organizers said.

Attendees will be able to sit in on screenings of a variety of films, as well as attend several related events, like table reads, panel discussions and workshops.

Organizers added that the RFN Indie Fest is about more than just the art itself: it's about bringing local creatives together and inspiring a sense of community.

"Whether you're a filmmaker looking to share your voice, or a film lover craving original content that reflects today's world, join us for a festival series where films, filmmakers and fans come together and leave inspired and ready to create," organizers said.
