Fight during Henrico traffic stop puts police officer and driver in hospital

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A traffic stop in Henrico County ended with a police officer and a driver going to the hospital early Wednesday morning.
The stop happened on Wednesday, April 16 in the 900 block of Winterstick Place near Highland Springs Elementary School.

According to Henrico Police, at around 12:10 a.m. a driver was pulled over for a traffic stop. The driver then got out of his car and began fighting with officers, prompting officers to use a taser on them.
Both an officer and the driver were hurt during the fight and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, charges are pending for the driver and police say they are still investigating. The cause of the traffic stop is currently unknown.
