Fire breaks out at AdvanSix factory in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A fire broke out on an upper floor of a Chesterfield County factory on Bermuda Hundred Road on Sunday morning.

At 8:48 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, crews with Chesterfield Fire EMS were called to a structure fire in an upper floor of the AdvanSix manufacturing facility, located at 4101 Bermuda Hundred Road.

Firefighters and HAZMAT crews are working to get the fire under control.

As of 10:02 a.m., the incident is contained to the site and there is no threat to the public, workers or firefighters on scene, according to a Chesterfield Fire spokesperson.

"There is just some smoke coming from the windows," the spokesperson added as of 10:02 a.m. "There’s no noticeable damage from the outside other than that at this point."

The spokesperson told 8News there were people inside the facility at the time of the fire, but it's unclear how many as of the time of reporting. There are no reported injuries.

Officials said there was smoke coming from the windows, with no additional noticeable damage outside.

This comes more than a year after the facility was damaged by a flash fire on Sept. 6, 2024.

Janeen Lawlor, the spokesperson with AdvanSix, shared the following statement about the fire:

"Earlier today, Chesterfield County Fire & EMS responded to a fire at the Chesterfield AdvanSix site. This was an isolated incident which has been fully contained. There is no risk to the community and there were no injuries associated with the incident. We want to thank Chesterfield County Fire & EMS for their rapid response and support today."
