Flash flood warning issued for Richmond, nearby localities

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A flash flood warning has been issued for the City of Richmond as well as multiple other localities on Saturday night.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the following localities are under a flash flood warning as of Saturday, Feb. 15 until varying times, as listed below:

  • Appomattox County -- 11:30 p.m.
  • Chesterfield County -- 10:45 p.m.
  • City of Richmond -- 10:45 p.m.
  • Goochland County -- 10:45 p.m.
  • Hanover County -- 10:45 p.m.
  • Henrico County -- 10:45 p.m.
  • Powhatan County -- 10:45 p.m.

A flash flood warning means that heavy rain from a thunderstorm or thunderstorms in the affected area will cause flooding in the immediate future.

Those in the affected area are advised to move to higher ground as soon as possible -- turn around, don't drown.
