Florida man arrested after deadly shooting, tractor-trailer crash on I-295 in Henrico County
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police have arrested a man in connection to a deadly shooting that caused a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 295 in late January 2025.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, it was reported that there was a deadly crash involving two tractor-trailers after one of the drivers was found dead with a gunshot wound on I-295 South near Pocahontas Parkway.
An investigation conducted by Virginia State Police revealed that 58-year-old Silvio Sobrinho was driving a tractor-trailer in the left lane when he was hit by a second tractor-trailer that had been driving in the center lane.
The impact, according to police, forced Sobrinho's tractor-trailer off the road, hitting a metal guardrail. The second truck that was involved was described as a white tractor-trailer.
As part of the Virginia State Police investigation, 55-year-old Tony Ray Williams, of Fort Pierce Florida was arrested by the Fort Pierce Police Department on Thursday, Feb. 13. He was charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with the fatal crash on I-295.
He is currently being held in law enforcement custody as the investigation continues into what led up to the shooting, as Williams will be extradited to Henrico County.
