Former correctional officer arrested for sexual assault at Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A former correctional officer has been arrested and charged in connection to the sexual assault of a girl at Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center last year.

According to police, 60-year-old Cedric A. Thomas of Chesterfield, sexually assaulted a juvenile female resident at Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center in May 2024.

Police confirmed that Thomas was employed at Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center as a correctional officer during the time of the assault.

After an initial investigation by the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice, the assault was reported on June 28, 2024, to the Chesterfield County Police Department.

On March 17, 2025, a Chesterfield County Grand Jury issued several indictments for Thomas -- including three counts of indecent liberties with a child by a custodian and one count of object sexual penetration in connection to the assault in May 2024.

Thomas was arrested on March 23 and is currently being held at Riverside Regional Jail without a bond.
