Former Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office patrol sergeant convicted of sex crime

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A former patrol sergeant for the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office has been convicted of a sex crime that occurred on April 16, 2020.

Edward Logan Fisher was arrested and arraigned on two felony charges in Northumberland County Circuit Court on June 3.

According to online court records, Fisher pleaded not guilty in a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 14, but was ultimately convicted of felony object sexual penetration by force on Thursday, Oct. 16. His other charge --the Class 4 felony charge of attempted rape, forcible sodomy, object sexual penetration, aggravated sexual battery or sexual battery -- was dismissed during his trial.

During 8News' inquiries in June, the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office confirmed Fisher was "no longer connected" with the agency and had not actively worked since February. The crimes reportedly occurred before he was employed by the sheriff's office.

Fisher also previously worked for the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office as a full-time deputy from January 2015 to June 2021. Before that, Fisher had served as a part-time dispatcher and a full-time dispatcher, according to officials.

Fisher is scheduled for a sentence hearing on Jan. 8, 2026.
