Former Louisa High School employee arrested on bestiality charges

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A former Louisa County High School employee has been arrested and charged with three counts of sexual abuse of an animal.

On Thursday, April 24, 24-year-old Bailey Hobbs was released on bond for what the Louisa County Sheriff's Office described as "crimes against nature."

Hobbs was initially arrested on Tuesday, April 22, after a separate investigation led detectives to the disturbing discovery. According to a press release, deputies executed a search warrant on April 14 at a residence in the 100 block of Ellis Drive.

"During that, several electronic devices were recovered," said detective Chuck Love. "One item ... that was recovered, that would belong to Bailey Hobbs."

Love said deputies found illegal images on Hobb's device, but specified that it was not child pornography.

"There was nothing located that indicated any kind of inappropriate behavior with a child," he said. "Our investigation is not on those terms, it's more so along the 'crimes against nature' terms at this point."

Andrew Woolfolk, a spokesperson for LCPS, said Hobbs was hired in September 2023 as a part-time audio and sound technician for stage productions at Louisa High School. In an email, Woolfolk said Hobbs is no longer associated with the school division and is not allowed on school property. Louisa Schools did not specify when the district severed ties with Hobbs.

Deputies are now asking to hear from anyone who may have additional information about this investigation.

"When you find images -- that doesn't mean that there wasn't other things that this individual may or may not have done," Love said. "So we're always interested to find out if anybody has any other information that they would like to pass on."

Anyone with information that can help detectives is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 540-967-1234.

According to court records, Hobbs' next court hearing is set for May 8.
