Former Midlothian High School student killed in Brown University shooting, Chesterfield school officials say

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- One of the two students killed in a shooting at Brown University on Saturday was a former Midlothian High School student, according to school officials.
On Saturday, Dec. 13, a gunman killed two students and injured nine others inside a Brown University building in Providence, RI, according to sister station WPRI 12 News.
Following the shooting, a GoFundMe was created on behalf of one of the two victims, identified by a family member as Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov.
An official with Chesterfield County Public Schools confirmed to 8News that Umurzokov was a former Midlothian High School student.
In the aftermath, WPRI spoke to Khimari Manns, Umurzokov's roommate at Brown University on Sunday, Dec. 14, who said Umurzokov was a freshman neuroscience major.
Manns told WPRI he was still processing the news, and described Umurzokov as being "a ball of joy."
A family member shared on the GoFundMe that Umurzokov was "incredibly kind, funny, and smart."
The U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Jonathan Henick, shared his condolences to the family following Umurzokov's death in a statement provided to ABC News.
I am deeply saddened by reports of the tragic death of Brown University student Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov on December 13. We extend our sincere condolences to Mr. Umurzokov’s family, friends, and fellow students and mourn the loss of his bright future.

According to WPRI, the second Brown University student killed in the shooting was Ella Cook, who was from Alabama.
Neither of the two victims has been publicly identified by law enforcement, as of reporting.
A person of interest was taken into custody in the morning on Monday, Dec. 15, but was released, according to WPRI.
The search for the suspect continues, and the Providence Police Department has asked for all video or photo evidence to be submitted, WPRI reported.
