Forward Foundation hosts gala raising funds for single parents in need

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Forward Foundation is hosting its sixth annual celebratory gala at the Cultural Center of India later in February, with funds going to single parents in need.

8News Anchors Delaney Hall and Autumn Childress met with Andrea Starr, executive director and CEO as well as Dennis Zember, president and CEO of Primis Financial Corporation to learn more about the event on the morning of Friday, Feb. 7.

"The gala is really important to the foundation, as it's our largest fundraising effort that funds the majority of our programming, and it's an opportunity to really celebrate everybody behind the scenes that has allowed us to do what we do, and Primis is a big part of that," Starr said.

Starr explained that the foundation's mission is to support financial hardship due to a number of circumstances.

"We're providing them with community, with education and resources to help them move forward for themselves and their children," Starr said.

The foundation specifically supports single parents who are working full-time, enrolled in school full-time or a combination of both.

The gala will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Cultural Center of India, located at 6641 Ironbridge Parkway in the Chester area of Chesterfield County.

Anyone looking to attend the event can visit the foundation's website for more information.
