Gas leak shut down part of Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A gas leak shut down part of Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield County on Tuesday.
The evening of Tuesday, May 6, westbound Midlothian Turnpike between Huguenot Road and Walmart Way was closed as crews responded to a gas leak, according to a spokesperson for the Chesterfield County Police Department.
Per police, the leak was located near the Euroclassics Porsche dealership in the area of 11900 Midlothian Turnpike.
A spokesperson for Chesterfield County Fire and EMS said that the leak was caused by contractors uncovering a 2-inch gas line.

While the spokesperson could not specify what work the contractors were doing or who they are employed by, he noted there is active construction and renovation in the area.
As of 9 p.m. on Tuesday, the leak has been repaired by Columbia Gas and the roadway has been reopened.
