Good Morning Richmond crew makes holiday wreaths with Maymont staff
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The holidays are nearly here, and the 8News Good Morning Richmond crew is prepping by making holiday wreaths with Maymont staff, giving viewers a look at workshops offered this week. Stormtracker8 Meteorologist Matt DiNardo along with 8News Anchors Autumn Childress and Delaney Hall were able to participate in their own workshop in the morning on Wednesday, Dec. 4. Workshops will be held each day through Saturday, Dec. 7. Attendees will make wreaths from clippings that were taken from trees throughout Maymont while enjoying hot chocolate and snacks, and listening to holiday music. Organizers said that wreaths can be made from multiple clippings. In the studio, our crew got to use magnolia leaves, boxwood clippings and cedar to make them. It was explained that participants will use a wire form and attach leaves to it in bundles, after which wire will be wrapped around it to keep things together and cover up the stems. All materials will be provided for the workshops. PREVIOUSLY: Maymont to hold holiday wreath workshops in Richmond To help keep your wreath fresh, you're advised to keep it out of the sun and spritz water on the foliage to keep things hydrated. They can last as far as January depending on conditions. For a full overview of the wreath-making workshops as well as other festive events, visit Maymont's website.
