The selected students will have their art showcased on thank-you cards, which will be sent out to thousands of Virginia teachers in honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week starting May 5.
In the eight years that this contest has been going on, 400,000 thank-you cards have been sent and 16 teachers have received prizes on behalf of the lottery. The Thank a Teacher campaign is a statewide project, made possible by the lottery as well as partners The Supply Room, IGT and NeoPollard Interactive.
Along with his win, Rodriguez got a $200 gift card and his middle school's art department was given a $2,000 credit from The Supply Room.
