Gunshot victim dropped off at subdivision entrance, Fluvanna sheriff’s office investigating

FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a person with a gunshot wound was dropped off at the main entrance security station for the Lake Monticello subdivision.
At 2:10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, deputies responded to the 800 block of Jefferson Drive after it was reported a person had arrived at that location with a gunshot wound.
Upon their arrival, deputies found the victim with a gunshot wound and indications of an assault. According to the sheriff's office, rescue personnel arrived a short time later and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital.
The victim's condition is currently unknown.
"Based on the initial information received, there does not appear to be an ongoing threat to public safety related to this incident," a release from the sheriff's office reads.
