HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A road in Hanover County is closed Sunday morning after a large tree fell, breaking several power poles and lines.

At around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 2, Hanover County Sheriff's Office reported that a large tree had fallen across Mountain Road between Gordon's Lane and Chewning Road due to heavy winds overnight.

The sheriff's office said Mountain Road is closed as crews work to restore several broken power poles and lines as a result of the tree falling.

As of around 9 a.m. on Sunday, officials said Mountain Road is expected to remain closed for about two to three hours.

According to Dominion Energy's outage map, power for about 426 customers in the area was out as of 10 a.m. Sunday due to the tree falling on the power lines.
