Health alert issued for beef and pork products sold in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A public health alert has been issued for several raw beef and pork products sold through a retailer with locations across Virginia and in Richmond.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued an alert for certain products sold at Lotte Plaza Market due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. Per the announcement, these products may contain sesame, which was not declared on the product label.

The public health alert covers raw beef and pork items produced from Dec. 1, 2025, through April 6. The affected products are as follows:

  • 1.5-lb. clear plastic containers with safety lids containing “QUALITY MEAT SKY RANCH PREMIUM PROVISIONS MARINATED BEEF RIBEYE ROLL /BULGOGI” with “SELL BY” dates of “DEC.11.25” through “APR.16.26”.
  • 1.5-lb. clear plastic containers with safety lids containing “QUALITY MEAT SKY RANCH PREMIUM PROVISIONS MARINATED PORK TENDERIZED CT BUTT” with “SELL BY” dates of “DEC.11.25” through “APR.16.26”.

Per the agency, the products were shipped to Lotte Plaza Market retail locations in several states, including Virginia. Lotte Plaza Market has a Richmond location on West Broad Street.

FSIS personnel discovered the problem during a routine label review when they noticed the use of sesame oil in the products, yet it was not declared as an ingredient on the label. The agency did not issue a recall since the products are no longer available for purchase.

Officials said they have not received any reports of adverse reactions from consumption of the products. FSIS urged consumers not to consume the items and to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase if possible.
