3-month-old girl dies after being hit by driver in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A three-month-old baby girl has died after police said she was hit by a driver she knew in Chesterfield County on Thursday.

According to the Chesterfield Police Department, officers were called to the 3000 block of Kingsland Road just before 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, for a report of a crash with injuries.

When officers arrived, they determined that a vehicle in the driveway lurched forward and crashed into a nearby home and three-month-old Fiona Phillips.

Police said Phillips was taken by Chesterfield Fire and EMS to a nearby hospital, where she later died due to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, whom police said Fiona knows, is cooperating with the investigation.
