Health Brigade to host Town Hall centering immigration enforcement and healthcare at Richmond Public Library
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- In collaboration with Legal Aid Justice Center, Health Brigade will host a Town Hall for the public on Wednesday at the Richmond Public Library's Main Branch to discuss immigration enforcement and healthcare.
The Town Hall will be held by Health Brigade in collaboration with Legal Aid Justice Center at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Richmond Public Library's Main Branch, located at 101 E. Franklin Street.
The event is open to the public, and all are welcome, according to organizers.
Speakers will include Abbey Philips, director of policy at the Legal Aid Justice Center, and attorney Majesta-Doré Legnini.
Organizers said in a press release regarding the event that it will center a conversation on "how new immigration policies are threatening access to healthcare -- and the steps we can take to protect it."
The event follows numerous detainments of people throughout Central Virginia by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
