Henrico budget proposal highlights education, public safety and facilities

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The proposed budget for Henrico County's fiscal year 2027 has been announced, with prioritized investments in education, public safety and facilities.

The budget was received by the Henrico County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, March 10.

Throughout the $1.4 billion plan, there is a 3.3% increase over the current year's plan -- with 83% of the additional funds going towards education and public safety. Additionally, all tax rates would go unchanged.

Leaders will review the propositions for individual departments and agencies in sessions set from March 16 through March 20.

A public hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at 5 p.m. at the Board Room within the Henrico County Government Center, located at 4301 E. Parham Road.

The budget is set to be adopted on Tuesday, April 14. If approved, it will take effect for the year starting on July 1.
