Henrico County Board of Supervisors approves award of contract for engineering support at water treatment facility
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Following January's Richmond area water crisis, Henrico County's Board of Supervisors has approved awarding a contract to a company that would provide engineering services at its water treatment facility.
According to the board, the work includes professional engineering services to support the water treatment facility.
Projects will reportedly include those identified in the Capital Improvement Program, those identified by staff at the water treatment facility and those that come about in operational and emergency conditions.

Whitman, Requardt and Associates, LLP, an engineering, architectural, construction management and environmental firm, was chosen for the contract after the county received three total proposals in October of 2024. An hourly rate schedule was negotiated.
The board said the contract will be for one year, though it may be renewed by the county for three additional one-year terms.
Project fees for the contract will reportedly not exceed 2.5 million for any one project or $10 million for any one-year term.
This comes after a malfunction occurred on Jan. 6 at Richmond's city reservoir system during a power outage, causing residents and businesses to be left with little or no water across Henrico, Hanover and Goochland counties in addition to the city.
