Henrico County to close water distribution sites as water is restored to residents

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County will close its water distribution sites and showering facilities on Friday night as water service is restored to residents in the county. According to the county, with the restoration of water pressure and forecasts for snow beginning the night of Friday, Jan. 10, Henrico County will close the following locations at 8 p.m. that offer bottled and potable water, as well as access to showers and bathroom facilities: Eastern Government Center, located at 3820 Nine Mile Rd. Eastern Henrico Recreation Center, located at 1440 N. Laburnum Ave. Henrico Sports & Events Center, located at 1 All Star Boulevard Brookland Middle School, located at 9200 Lydell Drive J.R. Tucker High School, located at 2910 N. Parham Rd. Wilder Middle School, located at 6900 Wilkinson Rd. According to the county, water service has been restored to areas of central and eastern Henrico that had experienced outages since late Monday and early Tuesday. Residents and other users should continue to notice increasing water pressure throughout Friday as the system returns to normal operations. All of Henrico County remains under a boil water advisory. All residents, businesses and other users of the county's water system should continue to boil their tap water before consuming it or using it in food preparation. The county said under the guidance of the Virginia Department of Health, tap water can be used safely for hand washing and bathing without boiling it first. With initial water-quality test results reportedly successful, Henrico County officials said they remain hopeful that the countywide boil water advisory can be lifted as early as Saturday.
