Henrico Schools, VDH to supply vaccines for county students this week
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Monday marks the first day of school for Henrico County Public Schools, prompting the school division and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) to supply some of the required immunizations for Henrico students to attend class.
According to HCPS, certain vaccinations will be available between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at L. Douglas Wilder Middle School on Monday, Aug. 18, at J.R. Tucker High School on Tuesday, Aug. 19 and at Brookland Middle School on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
The tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis vaccine is available for 7th graders and the meningococcal conjugate vaccine for 7th to 12th graders is available at each clinic while supplies last.
These vaccinations are free of charge, regardless of insurance coverage.
All students need to have their parent or guardian with them, and all the clinics are walk-in only. HCPS encourages families and students to have their information with them if they have private insurance or are on Medicaid.
