‘Homemade weapon’ used in Greensville prison fight, 3 people hospitalized

GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Three incarcerated persons were briefly hospitalized following a fight involving a weapon at Greensville Correctional Center.

According to a VADOC spokesperson, a "homemade weapon" was used in a fight between four inmates on Thursday, Sept. 10.

"[Three] inmates received cuts and [were] transported to a local hospital for injuries," Deputy Chief Communications Officer Carla Miles told 8News in an email on Friday. "All were treated and returned to the facility the same day."

8News has requested more information regarding the timeline of events and if any steps have been taken to prevent further altercations. A VADOC spokesperson said the inquiry had been received, but has not yet answered those questions.
