ICA at VCU to showcase VCUarts MFA Thesis Exhibition
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) will showcase the VCUarts MFA Thesis Exhibition beginning in late March, with featured work from 28 students.
The VCUarts MFA Thesis Exhibition will be presented in two rounds and will feature work from 28 students preparing to graduate with a Master of Fine Arts from VCU's School of the Arts, across a variety of media and disciplines.
The following special opening events will be held at the Markel Center, which will include curator talks as well as performances and screenings:
- MFA Round 1 Opening Night Celebration: Friday, March 20, 5 to 9 p.m.
- MFA Round 1 Performance Night: Saturday, March 21, 6 to 9 p.m.
- MFA Curators Talk: Friday, April 24, 6 to 7 p.m.
- MFA Round 2 Opening Night: Friday, May 1, 5 to 9 p.m.
- MFA Round 2 Screening + Performance Night: Saturday, May 2, 6 to 9 p.m.
ICA at VCU said the artists in Round 1 are Erin B Ehren, Eva Foldy, Colin Goodpasture, Kevin Hopkins, Cole Kamerick, kodiCrone (a.k.a. Miri Sluis), Megan Koeppel, Daša Kulikova, Catie Leonard, Frances Adair Mckenzie, Tori Mitchell, Nathaniel Newcomb and Hammet Reavis.
The artists in Round 2 are Amelia Baxter, Kika Castrellon, Clara DeWeese, Madaline Gardner, Brice Goldberg, HWIY, Fatima Kaleem Khan, Jiayi Liang, Nneoma Njoku, Irene Piazza, alexis torres-marroquín, Luz Del Carmen Salama-Tobar, Lorna Williams, Leroy Winter and Yangyang Zhang.
The exhibition is curated by Egbert Vongmalaithong, assistant curator of the ICA, and guest curator Taylor Jasper, associate curator of the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, according to the ICA at VCU.
The 2026 VCUarts MFA Thesis Exhibition will feature live performances and film screenings.
Admission to the 2026 MFA Thesis Exhibition is free.
