Infant dead, mother’s boyfriend accused of murder in Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 20-month-old boy is dead and his mother's boyfriend is facing a murder charge after the child experienced "severe trauma" in Prince George County on Monday.

At about 8:15 a.m. on Monday, March 2, both officers and emergency medical personnel were called to the 100 block of Blue Jay Street for a report of an unresponsive child.

When they arrived, crews found a 20-month-old boy who had experienced "severe trauma."

First responders with Prince George Fire and EMS immediately began life-saving measures on the child. Sadly, he later died at a local hospital.

The boyfriend of the child's mother, 31-year-old Tyler William Skinner of Prince George, has since been arrested in connection with the boy's death, according to the Prince George Police Department.

He faces two charges, including second-degree murder and the felony abuse and neglect of a child.

"The Prince George Police Department remains actively investigating this incident," police said in a Monday evening press release. "Detectives continue to process evidence and follow all leads related to this case. A formal update will be provided once the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has officially determined the cause and manner of death."
