Iraqi national sentenced after dealing fentanyl out of Henrico hotel room

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An Iraqi national living in Henrico County was sentenced to over 15 years in prison on Friday for dealing fentanyl out of a hotel room back in July 2023.

On Friday, Aug. 14, 28-year-old Yasir H. Al Sheikh Mohammed was sentenced to 15 years and eight months in prison for possession with the intent to distribute of fentanyl, according to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

Per court documents, on July 25, 2023, Mohammed conducted hand-to-hand transactions from a hotel room in Henrico's Glen Allen area.

The room was rented by his girlfriend, 24-year-old Destiny Aleeyona Deaver Lindore of Richmond, who was in the room during the transactions and helped Mohammed package the fentanyl pills.

That day, Mohammed and Lindore went to a nearby pharmacy, where Mohammed was arrested by law enforcement on outstanding warrants. Lindore was inside the pharmacy at the time of his arrest, according to the DOJ.

Authorities found 10 tablets with fentanyl from Lindore's purse and $164 in drug money during a search of the vehicle. Investigators recovered 1,060 tablets with fentanyl -- in what is believed to be oxycodone -- when they searched the hotel room.

They also recovered a handgun in Mohammed's backpack and an additional $3,890 in drug money.

Mohammed pled guilty on Nov. 15, 2024, and was sentenced on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

Lindore pled guilty on Nov. 13, 2024 and was sentenced on Thursday, Aug. 14 to four years of probation with a special added condition of six months of home confinement.
