John Marshall head coach Ty White leaves Justices for Petersburg

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Petersburg High School officially introduced John Marshall head coach Ty White as its new head basketball coach during a press conference Monday afternoon. He will also take the role of Assistant AD effective July 1, 2025.
White brings an impressive resume to Petersburg, having led John Marshall for 15 seasons. During his tenure, he amassed over 300 career wins and captured seven state championships — including an extraordinary four straight titles from 2022 to 2025.
Under his leadership, the Justices have also achieved a No. 1 national ranking on MaxPreps.com, which named White its National Coach of the Year for the 2022-2023 season.
This past season, John Marshall finished with a 25-2 record and secured yet another VHSL Class 2 state title.
White now returns to familiar territory, having previously served as an assistant coach at Petersburg and being an alumnus of the school, himself.
He inherits a Crimson Wave program that went 14-10 last season and competes at the VHSL Class 3 level — a step up in competition from Class 2, where John Marshall competes.
