Join 8News for Wishes in Flight telethon with Make-A-Wish
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Want to help 8News make some wishes come true? During Make-A-Wish's Wishes in Flight telethon, 8News viewers can donate air miles to kids with critical illnesses, allowing them to take their dream trips.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving children fighting critical illnesses the chance to realize some of their wildest dreams.
A majority of the "wishes" these kids make involve traveling. To help cover the costs of that travel, 8News is teaming up with Make-A-Wish for a special Wishes in Flight telethon.
8News has hosted Wishes in Flight telethons for several years now. In 2024 alone, viewers gave over 700,000 unused air miles in the name of helping fulfill children's wishes.
Air miles donations can be made either before or during the telethon. This year, the telethon will run from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
Accepted airlines include Delta, United, Jet Blue and American. You'll need to know your airline account number to donate.
If you'd like to donate ahead of time, click here and follow the instructions provided for your respective qualifying airline.
During the telethon, a donation line -- 804-330-8880 -- will be live, and a volunteer will guide callers through the process. The above online donation option will also be available during the telethon.
Tune in to 8News on Wednesday, Aug. 6 as we aim to make kids' greatest wishes come true!
