Lane of Ft. Lee Road closes after vehicle crashes into overpass in Petersburg
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- After a vehicle crashed into the Fort Lee Road overpass over Interstate 85 in Petersburg, the road's southbound lane will be closed. According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, the southbound lane of the Fort Lee Road overpass over I-85 in Petersburg will be closed beginning Monday, Jan. 27. The department said the closure is a safety measure after a vehicle crashed into the overpass. Construction on the bridge is scheduled to begin in fall of 2025. Drivers should follow the following detours: Southbound traffic on Ft. Lee Road will be allowed to cross the bridge through a lane closure operation. Northbound traffic approaching from the east: Continue west on Boydton Plank Road to Dupuy Road. Turn right on Dupuy Road and travel north to Ft. Lee Road. Northbound traffic approaching from the west: Continue east on Boydton Plank Road to Youngs Road. Turn left on Youngs Road and travel north to Dupuy Road. Turn left on Dupuy Road and travel south to Ft. Lee Road. Northbound TRUCK traffic approaching from the west: Continue east on Boydton Plank Road and travel straight onto Halifax Street. Travel North on Halifax Street to W Washington Street. Turn left on W Washington Street and travel west to McKenney Street. Turn left on McKenney Street and travel south to Dupuy Road.
