LaPrade Library to close soon for renovations

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield Public Library has announced that new renovations will soon begin at LaPrade Library. According to Chesterfield County, the LaPrade Library will close beginning at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 to start the process of packing up equipment and materials ahead of the planned renovations. The expected date for reopening is winter 2025-2026. “The Board of Supervisors understands that our public libraries go far beyond books and are essential to a thriving community,” said Clover Hill Supervisor Jessica Schneider. “I’m thrilled for residents to experience a modernized LaPrade Library, which will soon be transformed into a vibrant place for learning, gathering and social innovation.” The LaPrade branch originally opened up to the public in 1976 in a location on Hicks Road, which transitioned to its current location in 2001 on Hull Street Road.
