Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden to host flower shows, just in time for spring

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is gearing up for spring, with several up-and-coming flower events starting later this week.

The center will kick things off with the Virginia Orchid Society Show & Sale on Friday, Feb. 28. The event will feature a variety of flowers, both on display and for sale.

All shows are free to attend and will feature hundreds of flowers and specimens, as well as expert growers who will be there to answer questions and offer tips.

According to the gardens, if you are a gardening enthusiast, you may want to mark your calendars for RVA Tropical and Exotic Plants Plant Swap on April 13. There will also be a volunteer-run Spring Plant Sale from May 2 to 3, which organizers said is a community favorite.

"Guests can learn more about the Garden’s living collection via guided seasonal tours, or by signing up for an adult learning class covering topics like mushroom cultivation, native perennials and creating a kitchen garden," the gardens said.
