Lightning strikes Chesterfield home, starts fire

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A lightning strike sparked a fire in a Chesterfield County home Thursday evening.

At about 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, firefighters with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS were called to a home in the 4600 block of Lee Street for report of a structure fire.

When they arrived, firefighters found a fire burning in the home's crawl space.

The flames were put out in less than half an hour, according to fire officials.

No one was hurt and the fire's damage did not extend beyond the crawl space.
