‘Love + care for, I cannot’: Pomeranians abandoned at Colonial Heights mall

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) -- Two Pomeranians were found abandoned inside Colonial Heights' Southpark Mall on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Aug. 19, two Pomeranians came into the care of Colonial Heights Animal Control after they were found abandoned inside Southpark Mall.

The two dogs were left in a dog stroller with a note that read "Love + care for, I cannot."

Animal officials expressed disappointment that the owner did not formally sign the Pomeranians over to the shelter. As they were abandoned, they will have to remain on a 7-day stray hold -- meaning they cannot be adopted into a new home until that hold expires.

This is not the first case of animal abandonment Colonial Heights Animal Control has seen this week. On Monday, Aug. 18, an underweight dog was found tied to the shelter's fence.

Animal officials said they will be reviewing the camera footage from Southpark Mall to learn more about Tuesday's incident.
