Man arrested after alleged attempted robbery with gun at Brunswick restaurant

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man was arrested early Thursday morning in connection with an alleged attempted robbery at a restaurant in Brunswick County.

At about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office was called to Simona's Restaurant in the county's Danieltown area for an attempted robbery with a firearm.

When officers arrived, they found Meshach Elder to be the suspect.

During the investigation, deputies learned that Elder brandished a firearm at Dots County Store in the Danieltown area before the attempted robbery at Simona's.

Deputies said they were able to locate Elder, and the special response team responded to the 2700 block of Blue Bird Road.

According to the sheriff's office, Elder was taken in custody without incident just after midnight on Thursday, July 17, and is being held at Meherrin River Regional Jail.
