Man arrested after he allegedly abducted woman, forced her into vehicle at gunpoint in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Police Department has arrested a man after he allegedly abducted a woman, holding her at gunpoint and forcing her into a vehicle Thursday morning.

At around 7:22 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, Richmond Police officers were called to the 2700 block of Commerce Road for the report of an abduction.

Officers arrived on the scene and were advised that a woman was forced into a silver-colored vehicle at gunpoint by a man, according to police.

Multiple units within the Richmond Police Department began an investigation with the help of the Metro Aviation Unit and the US Marshal's Task Force, which authorities said led to the arrest of the suspect and rescue of the victim.

Police said the woman was assaulted during the incident and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The man was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Detectives have determined that the incident was domestic-related. According to police, charges are pending as the investigation continues.
