Man arrested after string of burglaries in Colonial Heights

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) -- A 27-year-old Petersburg man is facing several charges after multiple homes were broken into across Colonial Heights.

Multiple residential burglaries were reported throughout the south end of the city of Colonial Heights between Aug. 17 and Aug. 19, according to the Colonial Heights Police Department. Detectives investigating these crimes obtained photographs of the suspect.

At about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, officers were called to the 600 block of Boulevard for a suspicious situation. When they arrived, the officers found someone at the scene who reportedly looked like the suspect in the photographs.

That suspect, 27-year-old Eric Lee Baker, Jr. of Petersburg, was arrested without incident. He faces a total of six charges, including:

  • Four counts of felony breaking and entering
  • One count of felony possession of burglary tools
  • One count of felony possession of a Schedule I/II substance

Baker was taken to Riverside Regional Jail, where he remains without bond as of the time of reporting.
