Man charged with starting fire near Richmond City Jail

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A man was arrested for allegedly setting fires near the Richmond city jail on Sunday.

On May 4, officers with Richmond Police and Richmond Fire responded to reports of a brush fire in the 1700 block of Fairfield Way near the city jail.

According to police, a 54-year-old man was setting things on fire near the city jail. The Richmond Police arson investigation team obtained warrants and arrested the man on Sunday. He was charged with the following:

  • Burning of Personal Property
  • Setting Fire to Woods

No injuries have been reported at this time.
