Man critically injured after shooting near Godfrey’s in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A person was critically injured after a shooting near Godfrey's in Richmond early Saturday morning.

At around 1:33 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to a report of a person shot in the 200 block of East Grace Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a man with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The shooting was one of three such incidents in Richmond on Valentine's Day. The city saw another shooting early Saturday morning on Greshamwood Place and one in the evening on Treehaven Drive.

Godfrey's, a drag bar on East Grace Street, took to social media on Saturday to clarify that the "isolated" incident did not involve any of its patrons or staff members.

"We are thankful for all of the calls, messages, and your concern. Our thoughts are with all involved. We remain vigilant and encourage safety all across RVA," the business wrote.
