Man dies after being shot in Richmond on Fairfield Avenue

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A man is dead after police say he was shot on Fairfield Avenue in Richmond early Saturday morning.

At around 7:28 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 2200 block of Fairfield Avenue for a report of a person down.

When officers arrived, police said they found a man down with an apparent gunshot wound on a sidewalk and he was pronounced dead.

In their initial investigation, officers discovered several vehicles "damaged by gunfire" but found no other injuries, according to police.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
